*SPOILERS (kinda)* Back in the Forest of Myth, the mayor tells the protagonist that something is going on with the divine tree that the villagers are not allowed to visit unless for prayer. Talking to the tree initiates another text sequence. The tree seems to be filled with memories of the very distant past and has become less potent over time, and also appears to be possessed by a Shade that has the ability of rational thought.
